Terms of business

The Insurance Office, 29 King Street, King’s Lynn, PE30 1ET is an independent Intermeditary
who acts as your agent and accept responsibility for the advice given and for arranging your
Insurance. We can offer you quotations for Motor, Breakdown, Buildings Contents, Travel
Insurance, Liability and Business combined. We will advise you on different products on a
fair analysis of the market (we only offer one Legal expenses and Breakdown policy) and the
differences between the products. A list of the Insurers used is available upon request. We
will also give you advice when submitting a claim against any of the policies we have
arranged for you. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, 25

Completing Application Forms:
Your attention is drawn to the importance of the declaration and signature on insurers
proposal forms. Any failure to declare material facts (if in any doubt about material
information please ask for guidance) or any inaccuracies in your answers could invalidate
your cover. It is important that you answer questions on the proposal form accurately and
should this information at any time after the inception of the policy change, you have a duty
to declare the changes to the insurers and ourselves. If you have any doubts as to whether
or not to advise us it is best that you do.

Our Charges/Payments of Premiums:
In addition to the premiums charged by the insurers (we will advise you prior to any
changes) we may, at our discretion especially if we have to make enquiries on your behalf,
we may make the following charges to cover our administration eg; any adjustments £15.00,
cancellations £15.00, renewals up to £15.00, duplicate documents £10.50. For commercial
type contracts ie for Businesses up to £50.00. Returned or cheques not honoured, £25.00.
We will always deduct our commission from any rebate following either cancellation or
adjustment to your policy. This figure will be disclosed when known and will be confirmed in
writing. Also this can vary depending on the level of commission we receive.

Credit facilities:
At our discretion we can offer you credit terms ie; 2 instalments with a £10.00 fee payments
due at 30 day intervals. Should you require a direct debit payment plan the interest will be
10.70% in the annual premium. A deposit is usually required for the first instalment Full

Complaints:
It is our intention to provide you with a high level of customer care at all times. However, if
you feel that you have any cause to complain in anyway about your insurance cover, the
manner of any member of staff, or any advice given, in the first instance please contact

01553 769088, who will be pleased to assist you. We promise to investigate your complaint
thoroughly and acknowledge this within 5 working days of receiving the same and a final
response within 20 working days of having received your complaint. If you are still unhappy
and the matter has not been resolved, a formal complaint procedure will be fouud in your
policy document or upon request with the proprietor. In the unlikely event that we cannot

Cancellation of your Policy:
If having arranged insurance through our office you then discover that the Terms and
Conditions were not as agreed then you will be entitled to cancel your cover within 14 days
(unless the policy is corrected to your satisfaction) of receiving the same, a refund will be
given subject to our charges shown above and the charges made by the Insurers, (we will
advise you of your Insurers charges). Also providing no claims has occurred or other
changes made to thee policy. We must draw your attention to the scale of charges the
insurers make in the event of you wishing to cancel your policy during the first year
especially after a claim. If you are unsure about their charges please contact us before you
decide to cancel the policy.

Data protection:
Under the Data Protection Act 1988 you have the right to see personal information about you
that we hold on our records. Please make an appointment prior to this request. We promise
not to use this information other than for our own internal records.

Clients money:
When you pay us your premium it is then Banked with Lloyds TSB and is kept in a Statutory
Trust Account and until such a time it is required by your Insurers. At no time can access be
obtained by any other parties. Any interest paid by our Bankers for holding this money is
then considered as income to this Office.

Financial services compensation scheme:
We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from this scheme if we
fail our obligations. Depending on the circumstances of your claim you can claim 100% of
the first £2000 and 90% of the remainder. Further information about this scheme is available
from the FSA.
