New Driver, New Car

New Cars for New Drivers

Being a young driver shouldn’t be so expensive and difficult and that’s exactly why we offer these straightforward monthly car and insurance packages for young drivers. You can secure your car with a low deposit, so get a quote now on a range of cars from leading manufacturers!

How on earth do we take one of the most difficult and expensive aspects of being a young driver and make it, well, a lot easier? Just like this…

  • We saw that the high cost of insuring a young driver was having a knock on effect which meant people like you, and your parents, are buying older cars that don’t have important modern safety features.
  • So, our unique insurance and car purchase scheme only offers you new cars that will help keep you and your passengers safer on the roads, lowering your risk and helping us offer you a fairer insurance deal.
  • The cars we offer all have a minimum Euro NCAP safety rating of 4 stars, are equipped with all the modern safety features and our insurance also comes with our clever black box technology to help you monitor and improve your driving.
  • Buying the car itself is really easy and flexible. We have plenty of finance options so you can choose the one that suits you and your budget best. Or, if you’d rather, you can choose to pay cash.
  • You do need to be 18 years old to apply for finance and it is subject to status. But if you are 17, get your parents to apply for you – their established credit history should make it easier for you to get accepted.
  • If you are 18 and have little credit history your parent’s can act as a guarantor on your application – you can even have the agreement in your parent’s name and make the payments yourself.

Want to find out why our car ownership scheme for young drivers is just so brilliant? Of course you do…

  • We want young drivers like you into a newer, safer car in a more affordable way.
  • With 12 months free insurance, or a significant insurance contribution offered, we can help you drive down the cost of driving.
  • This could make you some really big savings, especially when you compare it to how difficult and expensive it can be to buy and insure an older car in your first year of driving.
  • Our friendly Marmalade team are based at our UK Young Driver Centre and are here to help make sure you get the car and the deal that’s right for you.
  • And why do we only provide new cars? Newer cars with a minimum 4 star Euro NCAP safety rating are proven to be safer.
  • And, what’s more, all our cars fall into a lower bracket of road tax – saving you even more!
  • But don’t just take our word for it. Have a look at what some of our other Marmalade drivers have to say.

So there you go. Lots and lots of very good reasons why you should buy and insure your car through Marmalade Cars for Young Drivers. Now take a look at the cars and deals we offer and see what your monthly payments could be.

  • Always inform the insurance company of the identity of the main driver, even if it is a young driver on a parent’s insurance policy. Putting them as a named driver is not enough and you could be accused of insurance ‘fronting’ and if you needed to claim the policy could refuse to pay out.
  • Look carefully into the insurance option you choose for a young driver. The BBC’s Money Box programme estimates over 1,000 claims involving young drivers are being rejected by insurance companies each year, and that figure is going up. A bit of research can save you a lot of hassle and expense.
  • Make sure you tell your insurance company anything that could influence their decision to cover a young driver – especially if you’ve ever had a policy cancelled. If you hold anything relevant back they can void your policy.

  • Don’t insure a young driver on a parents’ policy if they’re going to be using the car regularly, otherwise you could be accused of insurance ‘fronting’ and that could invalidate your policy. If they are genuinely only going to be using the car occasionally then that is OK.
  • You can’t insure a young driver on a parents’ policy unless the parent actually owns the car.
  • Never assume that saving money on insuring a young driver in the short term won’t come back to haunt you. If a young driver is involved in an accident and the insurer refuses to pay out, the driver will be treated as if they are not insured, fined and given 6 points on their licence (which is an automatic ban for new drivers). Also, the claim will have to be paid for and it will be very difficult to get cover in the future.
